Ellen SAGER 1841 census look up

Hi

I'm having problems trying to find a suitable Ellen SAGER/SAGAR on the 1841 Census.  She was born about 1827 in Cliviger although I do not know any parents etc yet.

Ellen marries a Robert TOWLER in 1849 and they had two daughters that I can so far establish, Alice 1850 and Elizabeth 1859.

Hope someone can offer a solution.

This looks very promising as her future husband Robert TOWLER was also living in Whalley in the 1841 census
HO 107/ 506/22/41.

The Police Inspector seems to be an interesting lead?

Hi,

The address on the 1841 for Ellen Luger/Sagar is actually Lowerhouse Fold, Habergham Eaves.  Which places her nearly in Padiham   However, she is still a possible.

Robert Towler was living at Brunshaw, Burnley (civil parish of Whalley, but not the town Whalley) on the 1841.  He and Ellen were also living there on the 1851 census next door to his parents. 

As they married at St. John`s Cliviger I would have expected her to be living around the same area.

The 1841 images for part of Cliviger are quite faint so it`s possible she may have been missed or really badly transcribed!!

Yes, our well known census website has missed loads off for Cliviger.  On some pages where there should be 25 names there are only 5 or 6 actually transcribed!!

Oh Dear!  Why does this always seem to happen to me.  I've had the same problem in Ruabon, Denbighshire where that same well known census website has missed off the complete town

Hi Doggy,

I did have a trawl through the actual images which are there but I still can`t spot her.  Perhaps if you get the marriage certificate it would hopefully give her fathers name and occupation which could help.  Unfortunately Sagar is a very popular name in these parts.

I'm a SAGER by birth, but my name when registered was accidentally written as SAGAR, so that's what's on my birth certificate. If that could happen in the 1960s, I expect it often happened in the preceding centuries.
