Thanks Ecneps, that was quick, I've found it, No4 North St. Anyone know where the pub's name came from or its history?

Welcome to Roots chat Bilkent
In 1838 in White's Directory its address is Cage Lane does anyone know if Cage lane adjoins North Street?

I can't see a Cage Lane in Strood - perhaps it was just renamed North Street.

I did wonder if it was on a corner has anyone seen it on a map of Strood? Strange name Google doesn't seem to mention who the three gardeners were

I think I saw the pub list you were looking at Trees, it may be wrong, there was a "Cage Lane" listed there but that was in Chatham.

I found it at this link listed toward the bottom of the page under Victualers
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~mrawson/dir2.html
which was a directory for Strood
It is quite puzzling

Congratulations, brilliant piece of detective work "Trees" and you did it without taking any DNA tests!! There are 12 other premises in Cage Lane on the same list so it must have been a busy place back in 1838.
