Annie, besides sending to someof the newspapers you did I also informed the Daily Express

Parhaps if the editor of the Echo is informed that there will be a guard of honour when the stone is back in situ he may decide to include it as a follow-up story.  He made good use of the Robert W Stead info to use it as a reminder of what is not being done for our serving soldiers to day.

  I thought that including a copy of the wrist tag on the gravestone would give an added interest to those who I am sure will want to see Robert's stone in the future.

I have seen many gravetsones in Scotland where photos of the deceased are included.  A wrist tag is not a photo but a focal point of interest as it started the whole quest

I think more emphasis should be given to the tens of thousands from around the world who have wanted to follow the progress for the search of the next of kin of Robert and what was going to happen next.

Random thoughts:

A brass (?) plaque attached to the stone after it is raised with mention of those involved in it's 'restoration' or date of re-erection of stone. Be nice if the tag could be attached to this, but perhaps vandals/thieves could target this - expense is also an issue.

Is there any way to display the tag with some printed information about Robert, the tag and the rootschatters quest, inside the church - display case for example? I can see that it may not be possible to attach something like a frame to the fabric of the church.

I suggested something like this way back. To have the tag in some way framed and displayed, and the story with it. Also a pamplet printed that the church could renew, and sell as information sheets to boost church funds.

Hi everyone

Welsbys have rung to say they will be removing Robert's gravestone from the site for the necessary work towards the end of May and will make several trips to St Peter's to prepare the base. 

They cannot give a definite date for completion because it depends on the preparatory work required but they said if the get together can be arranged  for the first week in June they will endeavour to have it ready by then.  They are actually aiming for the end of May but cannot promise anything.

I will be giving them the final cheque this week so it's up to you all now to pick a date and time for your visit.  They do not work weekends but it might be difficult for some of you to be there for the raising of the stone in the week so a weekend might suit you all more.  There's no reason why those who live nearby couldn't take photographs of the stone going up again.

With regards to the medallion, it might be best to ask Michel first what he wants to do, then ask Graham what the Church would be able to accomodate, and then discuss all the ideas and where the funding will come from.

Welsbys ont sonné à-dire qu'ils seront enlevant Robert's pierre tombale du site pour les travaux nécessaires à la fin de mai et se rendre plusieurs fois à Saint-Pierre, de préparer la base.

Ils ne peuvent pas donner une date précise pour l'achèvement car il dépend des travaux préparatoires nécessaires, mais ont-ils dit si les rencontres peuvent être organisées pour la première semaine de juin, ils s'efforceront d'qu'elle sera prête d'ici là. Ils sont en réalité destinées à la fin du mois de mai, mais ne peut rien promettre.

Je vais leur donner le dernier chèque cette semaine, c'est donc à vous tous maintenant de choisir un jour et l'heure de votre visite. Ils ne travaillent pas le week-end, mais il pourrait être difficile pour certains d'entre vous d'être là pour la levée de la pierre dans la semaine, alors peut-être un week-end tous plus adaptés à vous. Il n'ya pas de raison pour que ceux qui vivent à proximité n'a pas pu prendre de photos de la pierre remontant à nouveau.

En ce qui concerne le médaillon, il serait peut-être préférable de demander Michel abord ce qu'il veut faire ensuite Graham demander ce que l'Eglise sera en mesure d'accueillir, et ensuite discuter de toutes les idées et où le financement viendra.
