Hello all. Well I am so thrilled. Firstly Michel, the Catalyst, in the emotional and moving experience we are all part of. Thank you so much for asking Annie for help. For the thousands of people who have tried to assist you and succeeded. Its a wonderful experience that by the looks of it is to continue.
May I say that realistically we will not all be there the day the headstone is actually re-erected! What we need is for Welsby's to be informed that there is world wide interest and people's travel arrangements need to be in place, especially any person from overseas. They are getting free advertisement and will on the day.
My thought is that a specific date be chosen that we all gather at Roberts grave. Due to the fact of people working would it be sensible to have a weekend day to have The Rededication Service if that is what it is going to be. What do you all think of that? Especially people who plan to come.
Welsbys have to be the ones who move on this, due to public Interest. A mention to them that it will possibly be in the national press  ;) may motivate them. I will personally notify the press especially the Echo.
Regardless of the normal time scale of erecting headstones, I think in any business exceptions can be made. Especially in this case. Its not a  "family" job so to speak, maybe a "rooters family" in this one. A lot will have to be arranged.
What do you all think. If Welsbys give a date,  MissM can choose a date near to that to organise the get together! MissM is there as is Graham who hopefully will help. I am happy to help in anyway to organise though in Oldham will be happy to join in.
Please let us know your thoughts!
Now don't hold back folks  :) as I'm sure you won't.
Best wishes and thank you Michel for your comments and gift of Roberts Story!

Hi Guys

Just a little thought - if you want this to be in the press, the best way to make sure is to tell them!

There is nothing to prevent you making up your own press release and sending it out to any publications that you think might be relevant (family history magazines, military history magazines etc as well as the usual press, local radio and tv). It's a great story & one that I am sure they will love.

I certainly feel that the effort that has gone into it, and the generosity of those who are freely helping with the stone, should be rewarded with a little mention ...

Very best of luck with that!

Kind regards, Arranroots  ;)

I think that is a wonderful idea Arranroots - and if a rootschatter supplies the content (+ picture/s) you would be assured of accuracy, and the publication may be more inclined to use this rather than assign someone to write a piece. And rootschat might get a mention  ;)

That is an excellent idea arranroots and I am sure we have someone with the capability to write that one up but before we all go running off in different directions on it then lets consider first that we must co ordinate everything first like getting a date for the repair and getting in touch with the stonemasons to let them know this could be large in the press as tisgrannie pointed out earlier

We have had the kind offer from scrimnet and his friends to do the Guard of Honour
I am sure Lynne MissM can get together with Graham about arranging something special with St Peters as this is her domain

and as for a date then the weekend is obvious to all of us as most people are available then to attend.

All these details should be in place before sending off again a press release

any other opinions on this welcomed
