Lynne

Thats a great breakthrough getting to the Echo finally as I got nowhere either with my contacts.

For me I would say yes get the restoration under way as soon as possible I am sure we can raise the final phase of the target during that time.

You must have got a real buzz when the Echo contacted you I know I felt it when I read it a few minutes ago.

Great stuff

Hi Edna

It felt like an electric shock when I heard who was on my phone!  I didn't even give them my phone number.... guess having an usual name leaves it hard to hide when there's only four of you in the phone book!

So many of us have contacted them, we must have all worn them down and now they've given in!  ;D

Well done girl, you have done us so proud. I am sure that the others will too. Hopefully it will generate interest locally and raise some more money. Robert deserves the publicity. The Echo should let the people of Liverpool decide whether its a worthwhile story or not.
Thank you so much MiissM.
ps. can I have your autograph please :)

I have just sent a message off to Graham inviting him to browse the thread again and to tell him of the good news Lynne has brought us and to ask his opinion of a plaque as mentioned by the Echo reporter in Lynnes message so heres hoping we hear from Graham shortly.

Hi I think I am going to email the guy at the Echo and thank him for his quick response!
Tell him how we are all delighted with him sending someone! Keep the pressure on a bit to go to print.
regards

Dear Sir, Can I thank you for having the reporter contact our liaison person XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX. The rootschat community are very delighted with the news, as it spreads world wide. We genuinely hope that positive things will now happen regarding Robert Stead's headstone.
The publicity will be good for the Echo. We all plan on trying to obtain a copy if and when the story is printed. We could read it online but its not quite the same is it? I shall personally make sure that all our overseas friends get a copy too.
Thank you so much for showing what had become a beleaguered lot, that the Echo does have a heart!
Yours most sincerely
