I have done quiite a lot of  MI recording  and have been amazed at the clarity of the inscribing on the very old stones which were laid flat as was the custom in many churchyards.

Having seen Lynne's wonderul photos one can see that it would look better if Robert's stone was upright as those around him but I do feel that it is an achievement just to get the stone turned and if the amount needed to right it is not forthcoming in a short time the extra could be donated to the church for all the help Graham has been.  I have given without any qualms at all. and hope that the matter will be resolved soon.

Got my cheque on the way too, now.
I've had my say, but I'll go with what ever is decided. Let's show the world that there are those among us who are determined  that these men, although they have no descendants, are not forgotten, and our Robert is the symbol of our belief.

Good evening all,

Long ago that I did not give my new, and I request you to forgive me, I just spent more than two hours to read and translate the messages that I had not seen for almost a month.

I am overwhelmed by all the energy that you all to deploy the memory of Robert can be honored and thank you from the bottom of my heart for your wonderful teamwork.

Of course it would be wonderful that besides being returned, the stone can be re erected and repaired to restore its original appearance.

I especially want to thank Lynne for its initiative to collect money, it is an important responsibility.

I now have to send him my own participation ...!!!

très affectueusement

Michel

Hi Elizabeth

Thank you so much for getting in touch and offering your donation.  I'm guessing Poll gave you the address to send it to.

It is wonderful how everyone is coming together to help achieve this project and how it has touched everyone's hearts!

Thank you again,

Lynne

Hi everyone ...Unfortunately the moderators have pulled the plug on my thread on the restoration board... and quaratined it pending a meeting as I  was contravening the rules on Rooschat . I  understand that it was setting a precedent as it was linking a free service of restoring pics to  request for a donation.. I don't have a problem with what has happened  and I am am so grateful to everyone who has donated to this cause especially those who have done so following my request.
I have been assured that there have been no complaints from fellow rootschatters and I am glad that no one seems to have been offended by my actions . I may be allowed to have a locked thread advertising this thread asking for donations on the For Sale board but that has yet to be confirmed . I would ask you all to consider using the pm system when discussing anything to do with donations and actual   money transactions etc  to ensure that it doesn't appear that people are soliciting in any way.
I  hope that Robert's headstone will be re erected and that we  don't give up until that  is done and I  personally hope  that the money collected so far is kept in a fund until we do ... whether that is  next week or next year. Of course I think it is up to Michel  to decide in the end...    Thanks for allyour pms and support everyone ....x Poll
