Look

Today my heart was filled with joy,
As the Sun shone down on me.
A hundred voices called to look,
And the sun shone down on me.

So many hearts all filled with pride,
As the thoughts they were of me.
So many people around the World,
And their thoughts were all for me.

               Many spirits joined as one,
               To raise again my stone.
               From metal tag to stonemason,
               Tis raised again my stone.

Friends of old made friends anew
And the World's a better place.
For many minds had thought alike,
Now the sunshines on my face.

  :D :D :D Well Done Everybody!  :D :D :D

Susie that was lovely and it said everything for us

Graham thank you for all of your efforts and for sending the photo

Lynne and I will see you tomorrow afternoon and see the gravestone for ourselves and perhaps take another photo or two.

Lynne thank you too for a job well done in the organisation with Welsbys and also collecting in the funds that we raised we could not have done it without you.

Hi All

Seeing the stone in all it's glory is humbling and beyond words.

Annie with all the research and assistance you give to others you must be overwhelmed.

Everyone involved must be credited always for their support in giving this soldier a
place again to be visited forevermore.

I have just managed to nip down to have a look at Robert's stone but was way too late to photograph the men actually putting it up which is what I really wanted to do.

Welsbys have done a wonderful job in restoring it and it is all polished, even the kerb stones around it.  The new chippings had been added by the time I got there and the whole grave has been levelled as a lot of the graves have sunk and been displaced.  Every word and flower has been repainted and shows a lovely design which isn't on any of the other graves of a similar age.  I really wasn't expecting it to look so nice!

I'm going to add my photo to Graham's just to show you the chippings in place and a close up of the design.

I can't wait to go back tomorrow with Edna in the proper daylight - even at dusk, it is very impressive and more beautiful than I had imagined!
