Hi there, Its kind of sad that we are all restricted by time or distance on what was and is such a great achievement. The press will want a showing of some sort I would think. Without the main players i e Michel and Annie it won't have the impact I wouldn't think.
I realise that for Robert anything that happpens will be a tribute to him. I'm being selfish in thought that it should happen when ALL involved can be there. Robert WILL have his headstone in place  as is fitting. It shows the world someone cares. Having the full squad of folks who helped to make it possible is another part of the quest.
Joy he shall have his grave fixed, he has Graham and the locals to see that at least. Possibly people will come out of curiosity as they do for Eleanor Rigby and Bob Paisley. Thats if the press cover it, by just the headstone being replaced. It would be as when they came to view it in the first place. Maybe a shot with Graham, it will finish off the story regarding the headstone. I doubt they would come out today to do that, what do you think?
I really expected and would like the original idea of as many as possible gathering together in Celebration with Michel Annie and Miss M joining Scrimnet and his friends honouring Robert then in to the Church Hall for tea and biscuits!
I am just going off to school, feeling very happy but also sad we can't all be coming together in a week or two.
Well done and thanks to all of you who have made today possible. You are all Hero's.

It's just a shame that the final thrust came with so little time betwixt the details being advertised and the date being upon us... :-[ We couldn't get things arranged and an amount of the boys and girls together (Bank Holiday Weekend...free leave!)

There is nil blame here, just an observation...

Perhaps a date near to Remembrance Weekend...

We have big parades to do on the day per se, but I'm sure we could sort something around the date...And thus get more RCs to gather!!!!

 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
One more charge and then be dumb,

May the victors when they come

Sounds good to me scrimnet, as it lies with Annie and Michel. It is up to them.
As soon as they know I am sure we will be next!!

Hi everyone

I've finally had a call from Welsbys to say Robert's gravestone is finally upright and proudly displaying his name to the world![/b][/u]  ;D   ;D   ;D

My disappointment at the very late notice is tempered by the fact that Welsbys have smoothed out the broken parts of the stone, cleaned it, re painted the letters and put new chippings in front of the gravestone to finish off the whole effect.

I really wanted to get pictures of it going up but ultimately, it's back where we wanted and for that, I'm really pleased!

I asked if they had arranged for the press to attend but he knows nothing about that so that looks like something to be arranged when we have our Guard of Honour and people there in physical form instead of spiritually!!!   ;)  Mind you, there are a lot of people in spirit there already......   ::)

Hopefully we will have photos of the stone tomorrow and you will all be able to share in the joy of seeing it upright once again!

Lynne

Salut Michel

Hi Lynne !

I'm very pleased too ....... it really doesn't matter about the press for now .... the headstone is the main thing at this point .... and I know all the work you have put into this venture ..... again many thanks from me ...... you'll never know how much this has meant to me personally and the thought that Robert will - from here on in - will be able to face the sunshine ( and the rain and the snow !!  :D ) is a delicious thought !!

I can't wait to see the photos ..... I'm like Taz ..... this makes me more than very patriotic .... !

Everything went well today and the stone is in place .I'll try and attach a picture with this post but I'm not to clever on this kind of thing! The picture was taken before the kerbs were finally in place so the plot looks better than the picture.

That's great news Lynne .. I hope that we can quietly work towards a meeting  planning it with care and sensitivity for everyones situation  to make it one of the best meetings ever. Maybe then would be the time to invite the press to do a followup story... even if its a a year hence on the anniversary of this day .  so with that in mind I am now booking 22 nd May  in 2009 as a possible date to meet  you all !! ;D ;D ;D
