Friends

We have come this far so lets not the thread lose its Glory

I have written to Graham and Michel privatly

We have all Christmas in our minds but Robert is still in our hearts and those who are watching this thread but staying silent want to re unite the tag belonging to Robert to his family and if this is not possible then to place it in the hands of a museum that has WW1 soldiers memories on display.

Everyone who has been involved in this thread especially Annie and Michel and all of us lurkers who wish to bring Michels quest to the conclusion it deserves need to see it to its fruition

Yes indeed, Edna.
As one of those who has been cheering from the touchline, I think that now, it seems that there his no one to give the tag to, and I would like to see it, along with print outs of these threads for reference, to be handed over to a museum, local to where Robert is buried/was born, hopefully to be displayed. Or it could be archived in the Imperial War Museum, London.

I second that idea Paula,  that way it would be preserved for posterity, along with all other items from World War 1

The Imperial War Museum sounds like an excellent idea if there is no suitable WW1 Museum in Liverpool.

Well my opinion is this ..... ( for what it's worth ! )

Michel has had that special tag for over a quarter of a century ..... and a few more days - weeks even months isn't going to make any difference !

First of all as we haven't been able to find any close relations ... I believe it belongs to Michel ... to do with as he pleases !

This has been like his "baby" and none of us have any idea of what this means to him .... I'm sorry to say that museums would just "put it away" and it probably would never again see the light of day ! .... very nice for them to have but ..... as it has no monetary value .... they really aren't interested !

Sentimental value is far more important to us as family historians !!

So let's let Michel decide .... he's the one who has loved it all these years .... !!

Seriously - I don't think it's any of our business !!

Oh Edna ... of course I'm not offended !!  please don't think that ...

I was just saying what I thought !!  ......

But as long as we're fantazising ....  ::) ... I think it would look lovely framed .... with a French inscription and hung next to the WW1 Roll of Honour at St Peters !!

Hello friends

I have heared from Graham verger of St Peters and the church are currently trying to raise money for Church restoration so can not correct the gravestone of Robert but they intend to write a story in the webpages of Michels quest to find the relatives of Robert to see if anyone comes forward so keep an eye to the web page of the church as mentioned in Part Two of the thread.

He also says that he has spoken to someone about the raising of the gravestone and it would need mechanical lifting equiptment so very expensive Im afraid friends

Thank you Graham for your reply

Thanks for the update Edna !!

It's an expensive business isn't it ??

Maybe we should leave it be .... I'd hate for us to spend a fortune getting it righted - only to have it fall over and break or something !!  :-\

I'll keep watching St Peters website !!
