Further to William and Clara's marriage:
FAUX, William, (30, carrier, born Tas, widower, son of John) married to Clara McCARTHY, (16, born Qld, dau of John (publican) and Mary (Quinn)) at Methodist Forbes NSW on 12 June 1863. Witnesses: R.P. McMahon, Jane McMahon.
Before you get too excited, I am not a relative but found these details some years ago while doing an index of early Forbes marriages.
Gold had been found in Forbes in June 1861 and at the peak of the rush there was estimated to be about 30,000 people at Forbes, not all miners, but carriers, storekeepers, wine sellers etc. The main rush was 1861, 1862 and 1863, then other gold rushes saw a lot of these move on.
Cheers
