Hi Duncan

Finally yesterday I received William Lannary's birth certificate. I ordered it the middle of Feb, I don't know why it took so long. William's father was Joseph Lannary, born in Antrim Northern Ireland, mother Charlotte Callaghan born in Glasgow. Married in St Rollox District 23/8/1904.
A friend here in Australia found Joseph's parents. They were Joseph born 1851 in Ireland, married Ann Mullane born 1853. Children Patrick born 1871, Thomas born 1877, William born 1879 Joseph born 1885 and Ellen born 1887 all in Antrim ireland.
My friend found this information on Scotlands people as I don't belong to it.
Let me know if any of these people appear in your tree.

Hi, just saw your posts and have some information that will most likely assist you both with William and Thomas Lannary.

William and Thomas were indeed the sons of Joseph Lannary and Johannah Mullane.

Joseph was born in Dublin abt 1849 and died at 6 Dunnolly St, Glasgow, Scotland on 15/10/1905.

I have Johannah as being born in Cork (information given to me by another source) abt 1851. She died at age 74 at 11 High St, Kincardine.

Johannah was known as both Hannah and Ann and her maiden name was spelt in various ways ie Mullan, Mullin, Mullen and Mullane.

Johannah's parents were William Mullane and Mary Mullane M.S. Cooney.
Joseph's parents were Thomas Lannary and Helen Lannary M.S. Harrison.

William was born Belfast 17 June 1879.
Thomas was born Belfast 13 May 1877.
Ellen was born 26 Kildare St, Belfast, 2 November 1886.
Patrick was born Limerick No 3, Limerick, 19 February 1871.

I have a little more information on William in that he married Maria Barret on 25 october 1901. I found 2 children who I think was theirs 1902 Bridget and 1906 Francis (dec). I think the children may have been named after her parents (remember seeing something to that effect).

Don't know much about Thomas other than he married Jane Boyton on 1 July 1904.

Hope this makes your searching a little easier.
If you have any information that I could use I would be most grateful.

Hi
Thank you for replying to my post. All the information you gave me is the same as I have about the Lannary's. William Lannary born 20/5/1916 was married to my fathers sister Elsie Bentley. I have information on the Bentley family but not the Lannary family. I have no idea if William had siblings. He and Elsie had two sons, William Douglas born June 1946, in Hampshire died 1971, and Michael born 1953 in Malaya. Elsie Lannary died in November 2007.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Hi, I have been looking through my paperwork from Scotland's People. The information on births I obtained shows a Charlotte born in 1905.

I presume that this is a sister of William's only on the grounds that Charlotte Callaghan was his mother.

There is also a Catherine born in 1906 who may also be his siblings. I am not positive but have gone through the list and counted for all but 2 children. The other child is Ann born 1902, but I dont think she will be a sibling of William's given his parents were not married until 1904.

Thanks for the additional information you have provided.

Hi again

Thank you for the information. I will look for Williams siblings this week when I have some time. Charlotte could be Williams sister. I remember my dad saying that William had a brother (name unknown) who died in Canada and was found in the snow.  William never spoke much about his family so it's going to be trial and error. Thank goodness Lannary isn't a common surname!
Again thank you for replying to my post.

Hi Lily of the valley and virgo_lass - thanks for the great info. The Thomas you mention born in Belfast 1877 married my ggrandmothers sister Jane Boyton. This would have been William's uncle. My mum remembers as a child visiting Thomas and Auntie Jeanie in Garngad and other parts of Glasgow. Their sons (William's cousins) kept in touch for years with older generaations of our family but sadly no one that I've spoken to so far has any memory of William's family. I will of course keep asking, hopefully somebody will have something. In the mean time Thanks Again

Good Luck

Duncan
