Mary Gorfin GIBBINGS on 06 Nov 1876 at Swansea by banns. And then my Louisa emigration to NZ on Aug 1878

Hello I have looked in the 1861 Glamorganshire census for the surname Top (and variants) but there are none.

 :'(

Do you have any more information on his wife? Perhaps I can help you with her?

Not surprised - but there are others TOPPS at Wiltshire- I'll check them out later.

I have a some informations on Louisa - but we surprised that
she married before - never told us.  She married to my ggreatfather on 1880 at NZ and her maiden name GIBBINGS and "spinster" was on her marr cert.  Not "TOPP"
She came to Nelson under her name Louisa M TOPP, 23, Glamorgan.  {She born at Exeter. Devon]  General service.

I understand that the Tapp entries are not yours. I have checked again in the 1861 Glam census and the nearest match to the surname Topp is Toples. So I would say it is safe to bet the family you are looking for would be found in Devon.

There are some Toap entries in the Glamorgan 1851 Census (I know that is before your ancestor was born) but I thought it may be worthy of a search ~ just incase. Nothing within those entries seem to fit in with your family  :'(

Hope you find them soon! All the best in your research
Jen  :D

Hi

Are you still looking for John Thomas Topp?  I believe I have come across him while researching the Gibbings family who are connected to my Gorfin ancestors.

Thanks
