Hi

They got a lot of press publicity for the phone books about a fortnight ago and things have gone slowly or wrong rather frequently since.  I think  demand must be overloading their servers and you will have to just do the Robert the Bruce thing and try, try again!

The other problem that affects most sites, not just ancestry, is that there is a lot of publicity for sites that stream video and connection is noticeably more difficult just after school is out and also in the evening when America is waking up.  You may find things easier early in the day when the teenagers are in bed or at school.

Good luck

I've had a lot of problems this week. Can't get through, or when I do a search, I get through to the wrong census page.

Hi

Yes.  what I forgot to say in my previouswas that you probably share your internet connection with up to 50 others and if a few of them are trying to download videos you will all end up losing connections.  It may not be entirely the fault of ancestry.

Good luck

It is not working at all well this evening.  I tried to do a three year search of the BMD births index and was told (wrongly) that I was not connected.  I could not get the list up even when I clicked refresh.  I was about to give up and then tried to search in just one year.  Mirabile dictu here was an index showing the four quarters and I was able to view three of the film pages without trouble.  However, on first go the Apr-Jun page would not display at all but by the time I had looked at the other three it was willing to show itself.  Not very good service!

Well quite, not good service. All sites have off moments--I wouldn't mind if it was an occasional problem, or if I got a sensible"message"-but being told I am off-line,  is just irritating- i waste so much time checking other stuff and switching off the hub etc--- I am not a techie-- just confused cross!!
