I know Manchester is in Lancashire ;D I just wondered if Manchester had it's own day?
Migky ;)

Hi Migky,

Manchester annually celebrates St Patrick, the Patron Saint of Ireland, in seriously big style with its annual Irish Festival which is now established as one of the biggest Irish Festivals in Europe. Surely you don't need
a Manchester Day too. Next year's event commences on Friday 7th of March and runs to Monday 17th March.

I have been a member of Friends of Real Lancashire since its formation.

We raise our glasses to the Duke of Lancaster,   God Save the Queen.

I am proud of my Lancastrian ancestry.   I am not part of the Mickey Mouse adminstrative hoo haa   that was formed in 1974.  The County of Lancashire was never changed it has always been our Palatine County which makes it very different from the other Counties.   In fact a lot of those Administrive Counties are now defunct,  Merseyside was one of them  that was abolished in 1984.

As genealogists we can't do justice to a day like this without celebrating our birthplaces - I was born in Waterloo http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waterloo%2C_Sefton
and spent my childhood in Crosby http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Crosby

My father in law was a publican so my OH has lived in a lot of  neighbourhoods...He often talks about Sefton Park and Smithdown Rd and Crosby and Bootle...the Docks Road...and a few other places that I can't think of at the moment :P
