Hi Jeff, thanks ever so much for sending your acknowledgement and your lovely portarits - they are great to see. How interesting this is! Sadly I don't have a single reference to a Daniel Tapper at all and thoink it must be a different barnch of the family. It was a surprisingly common name in Devon, Dorset, Wiltshshire and London in particular.
I can agree all the information you included about Isaac William Tapper and can tell you that he did have children - William Crocker Coward Tapper (1844-1872), born in Durweston but died in his twenties though not before he too had been ordained and also had married first Clara Dainty. They had a son Hugh Martin St Clair Tapper (1871-1956) and grandchild anodther Hugh Martin St Clair (query Cecil?) Tapper b. 1899 (?) and a daughter Helen Mary St Clair Tapper b. 1905.  I have much more research to do on this line though that will probably be a little way off as Im working on other things at present.  But I will happily keep you in the loop if you wish though at the moment, I'm afraid I'm a bit lost as to where the link between our Tappers might be.
What are your thoughts?
Best regards
Jane

Jane. Thanks for your help. Probably no connections with our families. The Ramsgate historical people I contacted didn't seem to know of his offspring. I need to find professional art people who can verify the age of my portraits and from that we may be closer to determining who they are. My path continues. All the best.

Hi Jeff,
Yes, it does seem to be a different line despite Rev. Isaac William dying in Ramsgate. I'd love to know more if you are able to unravel it and I'll keep Daniel in mind as I'm researching. One comment  I would just leave with you  though, in reference to dating your portraits - I'm certainly no expert but if I was seeing those portraits for the first time, I would probably think them later than 1830 - I'd say another 20 years at least, if not a few more again. That is based solely on the style of Ann's cap and dress which to me seems more typically Victorian than Georgian....but I would bow to the expertise of those fashion historians out there who may know better.  Good luck with your continued research. Best regards
Jane

Yes I have had varying but non professional estimates on the portraits so far. The panel makers brand label style Geo Rowney suggests more likely an 1850 logo which fits with your thoughts. Daniel and Ann ages by 1950, if still alive, also makes that date more likely. We have not discovered their date of death nor their graves but not for want of trying. They may have been painted in Western Australia but more likely London. No record of their returning there also. They were not wealthy and had children here. Our search continues. I will now seek professional opinion but carbon dating option is not viable as can be + or - 40 yrs estimate.
