Robert Munson

I have in my possession in WW1 Campaign Medal inscribed  drv R  Munson  R A.

This was found with my late father-in-laws medals.  He lived in Rainham.

I have found a Robert Munson b 1894 Medway, 1901  living  in Gillingham Road, Gillingham., father Thomas b Sheerness.  It is possible it belonged to him

Does anyone have any one have any connection with this family.

Have you looked on the national archive site to find his service record which would give his address and DOB.

I belong to a Rainham family and will ask my father if he knows of this family.

Is he related to you in some way? What is the surname of your f-in -law?

I can find no record of R Munson.

It was found with the medals  of my husband's grandfather, Alec Brunton, not father as stated.

there are a couple of possibles on the national archive site.

On the side of his medal ( ie running around the rim) you should find a number next to his name. this is his regimental number.
This can then be traced to his name. Was he RA?
Do you know which medal it is ? Has it got ribbons?

then I will have a look (not that i'm an expert on this - I am still trying to learn more about my grandfather from his WW1 medals)

It is a Campaign Medal and the number is not a regimental number.  Yes he was in the Royal Artillery, but we have tried every avenue possible to find him.

Really looking for anyone who knows anything about this person.

I have lots of information on Munsons in my name study.  If you have his date of death I might be able to back track through records.  I have all BMD indexes up to 2005 and all census entries.

R Munson, Royal Artillery, Driver, mentioned in WW1 medals with two regimental numbers 1004 and 915570 for the same person.

My grandmother was Alice Munson born about 1895 in the poor house Little Horkesley Essex. Parish records show the Munson name going back to approx. 1650. Grandmothers bother John Munson's name is on the war mermorial in Little Horkesley.
Grandmother married William Leach after WW1.
Little Horkesley is about 4 miles north of Colchester and there are still members of the Leach family there.
