Hi Soxie,

Are you still doing some family research?

William Whale was my grandfather's grandfather so I'd be interested in exchanging information.  I'm quite curious about the Latchfords too, as I believe they may have been born in Ireland rather than Birmingham, as sometimes stated.  My father will be horrified to discover that he's related to Jack Herbert!

Cheers.

Hello
re the Silcock family that immigrated on the Conway in 1862, I can tell you that Leonard Silcock married my Great Grandmother sister, they all came out on the Conway, for some reason Leonard, who married Helen aka Ellen Cuthbert, did so in Sydney, but then then came up to Queensland, had numerous children etc.
Can fill in the blanks if anyone wants them.

The National Library's digitised newspaper site has mentions of the family including

the funeral notice for William - The Brisbane Courier, Monday 7 September 1903
photo of his memorial - The Queenslander, Thursday 25 February 1932
obit, including photo, of Sarah -  The Brisbane Courier, Thursday 24 August 1933
obit for Sarah - The Queenslander, Thursday 31 August 1933
marriage of Mary Elizabeth, second daughter of William and Sarah - The Queenslander, Saturday 29 June 1895

I searched using key words William Whale

I think the William Whale referred to as dying 1903 maybe the son of my gt gt gt gt gt grandfather Henry Whale in Birmingham, England who was married to Harriet and if so he was born 1843 and had siblings Catherine (b. 1847), Henry (b.1857), Edwin (b.1861).

I have only just started rsearching into my Whale family roots so any information would be welcome.

I have a William Whale marrying Harriet Lambert and they have a son William Henry Whale (date of birth not known) d.1903.......he married Harriet Eliza Silcock 1891..they had three children, Edgar, Vida, Leslie. Harriet Silcock was born 1869......So I am thinking that the 1st William Whale who marries Harriet Lambert might be the one you seek,,,Anyway keep this info just in case it is what you are looking for. There are better Whale researchers than me, hopefully they will be able to steer you right.
Cheers

Hi I am looking for a Frances Whale that married a Frederick Burley in Qld in 1864.  I know they had a few children in Victoria but I can not seem to find out who she was.  I saw the blog on William Whale as I was looking for a Frances Whale that arrived with her husband William in 1855 on the Bangalore and she was from Reading.  Berks.  Any light that you can throw much appreciated.  Thanks  Di
