Hi soxie

Now that the BCC grave search seems to be working again
http://www.brisbane.qld.gov.au/BCC:STANDARD::pc=PC_899

Could you check which graves you would like me to photograph. The one with William, Sarah and baby Morris I see - it looks to have a headstone from the online pics

I also found the one with Vida, Edgar, Harriet and William - not sure about this one as it seems to be completely under a tree & tombstones look a little sparse in this section.

What other ones at Toowong are yours? Hopefully we will get there next weekend.

Trish

Hi Trish,
If you are able and it doesn't seem too greedy :P I would love to have a photo of all the names you have mentioned please. They all seem to belong to the same family.

Many thanks again for your kind offer I am most grateful.

Regards,
Rowena.

The ones mentioned are all together - only 2 graves - no problem, I was wondering if there were any more that I had missed  :)  :)

Toowong Cemetery is one of my favourite places - it is very large, very helpful staff, well looked after & of course, peaceful. At the high point some wonderful views. The last time I was there is was looking very dry (as was all Brisbane) but it has recently rained, so it should be a good time for pictures.  A pic from a few years ago - the grave of a 19th century premier, it gives an idea of the size (and was taken in the "green" time  :)

 Hi Trish,

It looks a lovely peaceful place.

I do love looking round graveyards and cemeteries as they hold so much history and they are also a haven for wildlife.........free from LIVE humans  :D

 Thanks again Trish  :)

Not a name that is very common and there it is my Husband's side!!!

Hi Soxie

There was a memorial for the Rev William (erected by the church members  :) ) but no sign of a memorial for the other group of four. The latter was in an area of the cemetery where it was decided in 1975 to remove the headstones and create a park!!! (or sell off the land as we cynics thought). After some protests it was stopped, but not before many headstones had gone. I checked the memorial inscriptions book, that was created in 1988, but no sign of an inscription - so if it did exist, it is now lost.

Meanwhile, here is a small version of the Memorial to Rev W W - if you would like to  pm me an email address, I will send the others via email.
