Carol, that is lovely! I know what you mean about the sad clown.
They all have the look of porcelain dolls to me.

Best wishes, Judy :-))

Hi Folks  :D

I couldn't resist this beautiful picture either.  Lovely colouring jc, it looks beautiful.  Brilliant clean up TT, looks lovely.

Does anyone else get the impression the young lass in the front just stood there while her sisters threw jewelery and flowers at her willy-nilly.  She appears to be wearing all her stuff at once, it must have been a very special occasion...  ;D

I hope you like my effort Evelina, I am trying a new technique and I am quite pleased with it so far, I think  :-\

Cheers

She's wearing the same necklace as the girl on the right. Super, Lones!

The girl on the right and the girl in front have the same face, and the girl on the left and the second girl from the right have the same face...there are two pairs of very similar faces. but the girl in back is the odd one out. Still a sister? Maybe a cousin?

These girls need names! Can't just go on calling them The Girl on the Right etc...
I propose (from left to right):
Adeline
Bella (in front)
Cordelia (rear)
Davina
Eliza

Or summat like that ;D

Cheers,
C

Thanks to you all  JC, TT and Lones, all the restorations and colouring are super.  I only wish I knew the people in the pic.  I thought it was maybe a wedding but i cannot imagine my family having the kind of money needed for this back then.  My GG Gran married in 1880 in the Gorbels in Glasgow and that's where this pic was taken, also the pic comes from her side of the family but unfortunately I do not know if she had siblings. Margaret Wilson came over from Northern Ireland and met her husband to be on the boat over, Richard Coulter, I do not know when but I doubt it was before the 1871 census because that would mean they waited  9 years to wed, doubt it.  So I do not have a census prior to their marriage to check on. She was born c 1854 and Richard c1853 but i do not know how to trace info in Ireland. I know the family used to holiday in Downhill, Co. Down but that is not necesserily where they are from and of course Wilson is a common name. Her father was John Wilson (Wine & Spirit Merchant) and dec by 1880 her mother Elizabeth McClelland had re-married to a Mr Clark. Cheers Evelina

Thanks Judy, I am glad you like it

I am trying a new way of doing skin tones, or rather tweeking an old way, and I think I like it better..........

Lones, still indecisive....  :-\ ;) ;D

China, I have 3 sisters and none of us look alike, so you just can't tell sometimes, love the names, though I wouldn't want to be Bella....... urgh, it always puts me in mind of fat old spinster aunts, no idea why.... :-\

Hi Elvina  It is a wonderful pic, I do hope you track down who they are, but regardless it is a lovely pic to have.  You are very lucky  :)

Thanks Judy for your lovely comments and also Evelina...glad you like it...J.C and Lones...what  lovely coloured versions....I may follow suit with a coloured one now...can't resist now you two have done such a superb job...really lovely colouring 8) 8)...
This smacks of a stage production rather than a celebration to me...I think there would be more joy in their expressions if it was a celebration...just my take on the matter ::)

Love the tones, Lones and the restore TT  ;D

There are 2 sets of girls that look similar and I agree, the old one out seems to be the girl at the back but even she doesn't look that disimilar. Still think they're sisters!.  If it is a special occassion, can you imagine how much all those dresses would have cost, unless a couple of them were dressmakers.
Please acknowledge when a restorer works on your photos, it can take hours for them to work their magic

I think they are sisters too...and I agree that the one at the back looks like the odd one out when it comes to similarity....I still think it looks very theatrical 8)
