The record above for Margaret Airdrie and her father Adam Airdrey are my ancestors. I know this thread is a few years old but Shanty, if you're still out there, please get in touch.

Regards.

Helen

Hello Helen and 'yes' I am still around albeit, sparingly.  I haven't done much with the genealogy these last few months due to other priorities however I would be interested to hear about your ancestral searches and will provide to you what I can.  Are you researching the Dunn family name or Airdrie (Airdrey)?

Regards,
Shanty

I am researching both Dunn and Airdrie as one married the other many moons ago and are my great however many times grandparents. I'm dashing off to work just this second but will come back with more information later.

Hi Ceryswyn! I'm searching for info in regards to the Airdrie (Ardrey)(Ardery) name in Ireland. I'm from the United States and have traced my family back to 1769 in America where 166 acres of land was purchased. Both people that started my family history in America were born in County Down and County Tyrone Ireland. I've grown cold at this point in my search of family in Ireland. I see you're researching the family name and was wondering if you might have any info that could help me. Thanks so much

Hello. My surname is Ardrey. My family immigrated to USA from Co. Tyrone, Ireland. 1. People who took census spelled names back then by writing what that person thought it sounded like when they did a census or some other record, so the same name will have multiple variations of spelling. 2. My dad once said that everyone who was an Ardrey was related. Airdrie is almost an exact phonetic spelling of the way my name is pronounced. 3. I have a genealogy of my family back to approximate time of American Revolutionary War, back in Ireland to now. I would have to find my records to tell you, but I wonder if some of those mentioned names are my ancestors. I have found variations of my name in several Irish counties. 4. There was a lot of migration back and forth between Scotland and Ireland. I also majored in history in college.  I hope some this is helpful information.
