Same family are in Butterworth Street, Rochdale in 1841 but no sign of  Mary.  Although Mary was old enough to be working away or with older and perhaps married siblings.  I just can`t pinpoint her.  Perhaps she knocked a few years off being married to a younger man?

thanks for that - I know its an old post but someone else was asking about the same thing on ancestry and I couldnt find anything for this john , hes the John Scowcroft famous Rochdale pioneer and so far we can neither find marriage for him or his birth .... I know this is someone elses post and maybe they havent been on here for a while .. but so far we cant find it. 
Neither myslef of mr Critchley (who has done a lot of research on the Scowcrofts cant find it)

7th December 1826 second marriage to Mary Parkinson, St John Preston, her death,5th December 1842
5th March 1844, third marriage to Mary Ann Crowther, father William a school master, St Peter Bolton,

from Lancashire BMD two surnames given for  John

You could be right Radcliff  there's this marriage on family search and on 1851 census

John D Briscoe's occupation is a National School Master

1861 census John is a Teacher at St George’s National School
The Briscoe family living 41 Davenport Street

As for the Rochdale Pioneer John Scowcroft who was born Stockport that AndreaJJJ was querying  - I can't find his marriage to Mary either or his baptism.

The only John Scowcroft I can see born around that time living in Rochdale is the same one as posted by mosiefish

thanks Radcliffe - i have already got John Seddon Scowcroft hes a different one to this one -
i have 100 john scowcrofts in my tree and about 10 born about the same time period but none whatsoever which relates to this -
I thought i could help the person from the OP  but it appears he hasnt been -
I thought he may fit in the tree (the wife is from London ) but we cant find his marriage either at the moment - i understand another chap has been looking for it for a good few years -

oh  ive got john seddon  Scowcroft  the 1841 hes coming up John Leddon Scowcroft on somethings - i put him on find a grave .com about a year back hes buried at Tonge cem - he married three times and was  overseer of the poor . there is a pic of him on the web its in bolton museum
