Thomas Hedley of Birtley and Martha Weatherley of Gunnerton were married August 29, 1773 at St. Giles Church in Chollerton. They settled on two farms, Rouchester and Dinley Hill, a half-kilometre apart, both within two kilometres of St. Giles Chapelry, Birtley, where all of their children were baptized.
