Need help with hotels/inns in Glam
« on: Saturday 17 November 07 21:37 GMT (UK) »
Hi board,

A few of my relatives either owned or ran inn/hotels in various parts of Glam. I was wondering if anyone knows if thses still exist if i can get old pics of them if they dont and if anyone knows how to get further info on them, they are :-

Crwys Hotel - pretty sure this is still here it used to be on 34 Crwys Rd

Splotlands Inn -

Commercial Hotel - unsure of address

Also I would like to know if there was a hotel/inn on 63-65 Railway St in about 1890.

thanks for any help on this

Nick

Any chance of more info on the whereabouts of these hotels. I assume that's Crwys Road and Splottlands in Cardiff, but there will have been many a Commercial Hotel and even more Railway Streets.

As far as I am aware, the pubs were/are owned by local Cardiff brewery S A Brain who I am sure would be able to help.

They are still based in Cardiff and run by a family member Christopher Brain

Hi Marja, that list of hotels/pubs rang some bells, especially the Tredegar , we moved from 45 railway street, back end of the war, to 3 pearl street, 2 doors up from the tredegar, all my relatives and family were splottites, have been in contact with cousin living in wales still, and there are others living in Oz, including my son, who emigrated in 1991, and is now a full aussie with two children born in Perth. at the moment he has a house in townsville Qa. and another in Perth, and works as a civil cotractor, mainly on opencast mining sites, usually in the back of beyond. Mothers maiden name was Perry, and she was born in Bristol,  probably my generation, now in our 70s is a bit before your time, have you tried the bbc s.wales site, and log on to splott, lots of contacts, there. Regards splottboy
