« on: Saturday 17 November 07 13:10 GMT (UK) »
Looking for anyone with any information at on the Mullin and O'Carroll family from Letterdeen and Clifden area.
Is anyone else researching this family?  I am enquiring on behalf of someone else.

I live in Clifden, and would be happy to send pictures of the area, and research anything within walking distance :)

Thank you.

Kind regards,

Hi, I was surprised to see your post.  My mother is currently doing a family book on her side of the family.  Her maiden name is Mullin and her ancestry on the Mullin side goes back to an ancestor by the name of Thomas Mullin who lived in Letterdeen, Clifden around 1790 to 1820 (approx).  A son of his, Patrick,  joined the British Army and was sent out to South Africa on HMS Birkenhead in 1852 which sank off the coast of Cape Town.  he was one of the few who survived which lead the Mullin family to eventually remain in South Africa (Grahamstown area to be exact).  My mothers father was born in Grahamstown and the eventually immigrated to Rhodesia where my mother and eventually I was born.  Does this fit with anything you have.
