Britishworkman, Malvern, WOR
« on: Friday 16 November 07 19:26 GMT (UK) »
On the 1881 census in the parish of Malvern, Upton on Severn district, Hanley Castle sub-district, 2920/110/6 a family named VARNISH are living in a dwelling or street named Britishworkman.

Is this correct?

Where is/was it and is it still there?

At the top of the page is 'Pear Tree Cottages', halfway down is 'Machine House' and lower down is 'Britishworkman' all one word.  Think they're all just names of cottages. The previous and next page has Chase Estate, most seem to be occupied by farm workers of some sort.

I live close to the area and although I expect the cottages have gone, nearby was the Bluebell Inn which is very much a going concern. Beautiful views of the Malvern Hills from that road!

There's a similar query here - unless it is you??

There is a place called British camp, so it could be a theme in the Malvern area?!?

kind regards, Arranroots  ;)
