I often wonder this myself also. I think it is a fascinating topic to muse on. When I see pictures of myself as a youngun, I look just like my maternal grandmother, but everyone has always thought I look like my father. I concluded my parents must have been related.  :o ;D

Both my kids have bags under their eyes and I have a picture of a great-grandmother and her sister when they were little, and they both have the bags going on. And from my mom's side, there is a whole issue with blood flow and clotting that is at least 3 generations through.

My son is color blind, like my dad was, and sometimes it bothers him and sometimes he likes being like Grandpa. I like that he got that from my dad.

Even though we can never learn to what extent, I like to think our ancestors spirit lives on in us somehow.

I have my Mum's blue eyes and blonde hair, with Dad's nose, jawline and mouth ;D

In an old thread on here (can't find it to post the link), it was pointed out that I resembled my maternal grandmother.

What do you think?

Yes you do Llody, face shape and eyes definitely. Get one of these photo whizzes to paste her hair on you or vice versa and I'm sure it will be even more obvious!

I can't change my chin...............it's like my Dad's!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D

It's only since doing my family tree that I have realised just how alike Nan and I are.  When I was young I just couldn't see it :-\

Now this is really weird..................I have been in contact with a very very distant cousin who lives in New Zealand (2nd cousin, twice removed to be exact!!).  He very kindly emailed some photos of himself standing outside the property where our ancestors lived in Wales with their large brood.  I was absolutely amazed when I saw him..........he's the absolute double of one of my Uncles (Mum's brother)!!!!!!  I was completely gobsmacked ;D ;D

Recently when I received a photo of a great uncle,  I was quite startled because the resemblance to one of my cousins was very strong.  Their height, build, facial features, and even the hairlines were the same.

As for myself, I look very much like my mother's mother and  my interests as a young woman were very similar to hers, beginning with the fact that each of us had two sons then a daughter.
