I don't understand how any of that can work.

What would happen if your father's side were vikings and your mother's side Normans?

At my age, I try not to wonder too much......it might use up my few remaining brain cells...... ;D ;D

However, I always wondered about my Mom's side of the family....they all had such dark skin and such stunning blue eyes........(I inherited the blue peepers).....

I used to wonder if they were foreign in someway......well....I dug back far enough and discovered that her ancestors had a Romany name and were brush makers (a Romany trade) in Wiltshire....

I am tickled pink that I probably have gypsy roots.

Isn't family tree fun?

yes it is fun  :D

do you know about the genetics?

the brown eye gene is stronger than the blue eye gene,
so to have blue eyes you have to have 2 blue eye genes passed down one from your father and one from your mother

they would have had to have 2 blue eye genes to get blue eyes themselves however if they have a brown eye gene and a blue eye gene their eye colour is going to be brown but that doesnt stop them from passing the blue eye gene onto you.  :D
(a bit of useless info. for you there!)

Hi all i'm just fascinated to read everyones input into this subject at least i know i'm not on my own ;D , Toni that's not usless info , i did'nt know that about the eye colour , found that quite interesting  :) ,

by the way pehaps the illness (which i had not heard of before , 'scuse my ignorance )  had not been "discovered then " and maybe somewhere along the line one of your ancesters lost children at young ages and it was put down to something else , which has made me think whilst doing my tree i found out my grandfather's mother lost a total of 6 brothers , all under the age of12 , so when i can afford to i'm going to send for their death cert's , curiosity's got the better of me  :)

Hi all

Its not sad at all (that is what I'm telling myself anyway)  I'm always wondering about that sort of thing.

My mom says I look like my dad and my maternal grandmother and my moms sisters say I look like my mom!!  But what I have found out is alot of coincidence's eg my grandfather and his grandfather and me were all born in June and 63 years appart!! You might not think thats strange but as I never knew either of them it makes them more real for me.

I am the only left hander in all my living relatives and none of the older ones can remember any others!!!  So does that make me strange or special!!!

I do wish that cameras had been invented hundreds of years ago and I had pictures of all my relatives.
