Zachariah GILES

Hallo fellow Rootschatters,
I am looking for the elusive parents of one Zachariah Giles, general labourer
He says that he was born in Chilton Foliat in about 1804.
Very early in his married life (to Honour Stevens of Ramsbury) he moved to Croydon (Surrey) where his children were born and his descendents still live.
I am going to do a posting in the Surrey section too but is there anyone here who has any information for us as we just cannot seem to find Zachariah's parents

Zachariah was born in Chilton Foliat in 1802, his parents were Thomas Giles and Hannah Bartholomew. Siblings: Mary, William, Phebe, John.  John was transported to Australia in 1826.  Thomas and Hannah were married at Great Bedwyn in 1786. Thomas died Chilton Foliat 1834, and Hannah 1840. Jan

Zachariah and Honor (m.1824 in Ramsbury) were my paternal gr.gr.gr.grandparents through to my grandmother Louisa Emily Giles, born 1892 in Croydon, Surrey. My research doesn't go back any further than Zachariah's family. Looking forward to looking into the information provided in these postings.

Zachariah was the brother of my 3 times great grandfather John Giles born Chilton Foliat 1799.  John was transported to Australia in 1825. Hetta

Australians today try desperately to prove their ancestors were transported, wish l had known this when we went to Port Arthur and Botany Bay a few years ago, can't wait to boast to my Sydney brother-in-law and Tasmanian friends. Thanks for the post. Do you have any details on his transportation?
