Just to put everyone up to date, there are no Indians or Trathers in local phone book so they all either emigrated, died out or went ex directory. However there is a Slowther listed.
Asking locally there seem to be no indians or trathers in the area.

Thank you, Bob. The Slowthers came to America as well, at least the Indian-Slowther family. How interesting that there are no Trathans or Indians remaining! I appreciate you checking that out :)

Laurie, I am struggling with this Rootsweb chat business but I notice your interest , together with SABA's, in the Indian family.
I am a descendant of the family and would be interested to know where you and SABA are at the moment with the timeline.

Hi! Timeline: late 1700s - today :)

I've been in touch with SABA and also with several other INDIAN descendants in Australia, England, Germany, and some in the US. I'd be happy to compare notes with you.

Last entry on my family tree is the marriage of John Indian x Margaret Makepiece @ Alston 1784. This is on the "tree" compiled by a family member. There are couple of inconsistencies but still a good place to start.
I have not checked that marriage but looking at the Alston marriages on Genuki I find no Indians(red or otherwise) mentioned before this date! Suspect he may have been a Cornish tin miner who moved to the area. There is an INDISIN which i believe to be a corruption of INDIAIN as records checked do not appear to even feature INDISIN as a surname!
I am stuck here! I pick up Indiain/Endean in Cornwall around Ladock area but have nothing specific.
