If you have any further information on the following I would appreciate it.

Raloo graveyard - Patrick Drummond in memory of his wife Rose Robinson died 1892 aged 80. Also daughter Isabella died young. Patrick Drumond died 12/10/1899 aged 80. Also daughter Sarah died 1/10/1912 aged 72, sons Thomas died 19/02/1914 aged 57, Andrew died 27/05/1927 aged 78years and Annie Jane Drummond died 14/03/1950 aged 90 years.

I also have John Snoddy married to Mary Robinson, they would have been born abt 1839, I have nothing further on Mary. John Snoddy was the son of John Snoddy and Janet Blair and this John was the son of Robert Snoddy Ballrickard Raloo b abt 1789 and Margaret Lyle b 1800 of Browndodd.

A few of them might have signed Ulster Covenant in 1912. You can check at www.proni.gov.uk- it will usually give an address of some sort and you can also view the actual signature.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Hello Helena:
Just saw your message re the surname Snoddy. My husband's grgrgrandfather is Matthew Snoddy, who came fomr Larne in Antrim.  Not many Snoddy's in Canada.  I have not done any research in Ireland yet, can't give you more information on Matthew right now as I have just moved houses and all my family research information is still back in boxes.. Any idea if any of your Snoddy's came to Canada?

Cheers
Anne

Hi Anne

My 4th ggrandparents were Matthew Lyle and Elizabeth Snoddy they were married 1797, I have information on Matthew I don't have anything further on Elizabeth.

Their daughter Elizabeth Jenny Lyle of Browndod married William Robinson of Raloo my 3rd ggrandparents, witnesses to this marriage were Margaret Snoddy and James Snoddy.

William and Elizabeth had a daughter Rose Mary b 1832, their other daughter Betty married a Moore his middle name was Drummond. I am trying to find out who Rose Robinson b 1812 married to Patrick Drummond in Raloo graveyard is. I think there is a connection and I have not been able to find any further info on Patrick and Rose that might provide a link.

John Snoddy and Mary Robinson according to the information I have would have been born abt 1839 this was in a submission on the CLDS, these dates could be wrong. This submission on the CLDS included other people in my family.

Since my last post I have found another record for a John Snoddy and Mary Robinson this is as follows:

8 Nov 1912, Browndod, Inver
John SNODDY, son of John Snoddy & Mary Robinson - farmer

Is this the same John Snoddy and Mary Robinson on the CLDS and the dates are wrong or is this another John Snoddy and Mary Robinson which is possible.

I have other Snoddy family on record, if you give me more info on your Matthew I will check against what I have.

Helena

Hello Helena,
This is my first post to the Roots Chat so not certain if my information will be helpful or not as I am looking for information as well.  With regard to the Snoddy family, I have a James Snoddy born circa 1800.  He married Eliza Curley and had a son Matthew Snoddy born circa 1845.  Matthew was born in Carnduff, Inver and his father James Snoddy we believe died in Carnduff.

Does any of your information relate to mine.

Thanks Helena,

Pat d'Easum

Pat

This is what I have in my notes July 16 1830 James Snoddy was born to
James Snoddy and Jane Curley Cairnduff. I wonder if he is a cousin of your James Snoddy

This was from Baptism's Raloo area

I will also PM you as I have some other records for Cairnduff

Can you give me some dates for you Matthew and I will check for you. It is possible that the Snoddy line did go to Canada as other families from Raloo and Larne went to Canada and I do have the name Matthew on record.
