Hi, anyone know of McAuliffe's from Castletownbere.
My dad's name is John, and his brother and sister were called Michael and Mary

The McAuliffe surname only appears, in the extracts of Griffths Valuations, in Co. Limerick where the Valuation took place in 1853.

McAuliffe surname originated in Newmarket, Co,Cork it is very strong in that area there are well over a 100 McAuliffe's listed in Griffiths Valuation of Cork where the name is spelt Mc Auliffe

The McAuliffe family in question came from the townland of "Clash" in Eyeries on the Beara penninsula in Co. Cork.

Part of the family moved and the grandfather mentioned came from "Cooradonoghue" in Castletownbere again in Beara about 5 miles from Eyeries.

Gerard My 3xgreat grandmother's name was Catherine
Mc Auliffe married to Jerimiah Lowney  her father was Daniel McAuliffe  I don't know where they actually lived .
Jerimiah and Catherine's daughter Margaret Mary was married in Rerrin Village around 1843 to Patrick Walsh I believe McAuliffe's are another branch of the O'Sullivans

I have traced back to Ireland my Grandfather Timothy McAuliffe (1837-193?). He was born in Brosna, Kerry. His mother, Nell Downey, was from Brosna, but his father [name unknown] came from Newmarket, Cork.

Could someone advise me on how to trace him back to Newmarket way, considering there is a thicket of McAuliffes there.
