Fairey families in Northants
« on: Wednesday 07 November 07 09:26 GMT (UK) »
Is anyone else researching the Fairey families in Northants? ( ;D I'm excluding you, Marlene, because we're already good friends, if not relatives.  ;D)  I'm particularly interested in the family from Hardingstone, who share many first names with my Hunts Faireys, and feel there may be a connection.  For example, there are Naomi b 1840,  Amos b 1842, Martha b 1845 in Hardingstone, but also Alfred b 1859 and Zilpah b 1869 in Newport Pagnell.

My grandmother was Annie Gertude Fairey whose family came from Lavendon (actually in Bucks, but almost in Northants). The Zilpha Fairey you mention was born in Lavendon, the daugher of Samuel and Rebecca. There can't be too many Zilphas about.
I have a list of all baptisms in Bucks from 1700 to 1900 if you are interested.
Cheers, G.B.

Hi G.B. and welcome to RootsChat. :)

It's good to get a reply after all this time!  I am aware of the Lavendon Faireys, though I haven't been able to link them to my Hunts family.  The interesting thing for me was that so many of the Hardingstone Faireys shared first names with mine, and I wondered if the two families were connected.

We do actually have a Zilpah/Zilfer, etc. Fairey in our family, too.  She was born in Ellington, Hunts, in 1861, the daughter of William & Ann, and was the granddaughter of my gt-gt-grandfather's older brother.  She emigrated to Australia, where she married, had a daughter and died fairly soon afterwards.

I would be interested to see your baptism list, if possible, just to see if I can make any link.  I'll send you a PM with my email address for a reply.

Regards

Gillg
