Lest We Forget.

At 11am on the 11th November 1918, guns fell silent on the Western Front in France and Belgium ending four years of continuous war in Europe and the Middle East.

The eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, the moment the fighting ceased has become universally associated with the remembrance of those who died in the war, the "war to end all wars".

I have been researching the men from Sheffield who gave their lives in World War One.

Please take time on Sunday, to remember the brave men, who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

They shall not grow old, as we who are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We shall remember them.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow

I watched the Programme from the Albert Hall last night and the march past at the Cenotaph today.   always do, but must say the uniforms and hair of the scouts and guides was awful and the inability to march properly was very noticeable.

It was more noticable this year than any other previous year.

They were there Dancing Master, and that's the most important thing to me.   It's not how they look or how they march, but that they felt enough to be a part of the march.   If only more people took the time to honour the fallen .........no matter how long their hair is.

The fact they were there at all is something we should be proud of .. to be perfectly honest who else remembers what everyone looked like .. I certainly wasn't paying attention .. it was in memory of the fallen .. .. .. people who no longer have that choice because it was taken away .. .. .. .. .. ..

Our local youngsters just about to give their all for remembrance day..who cares what their hair looks like..they were there to remember along side their elders..thats the main thing....................very emotional.

Barbara...I took some pics of the scouts,cubs and girl guides there..very smart they were.....I felt very proud of them....pity I can't show them but I'm not allowed to.
