NZ research is a bit harder than other countries as the birth indexes do not show the names of the parents for most time frames and are only available on fiche by separate years. A bit tedious to look up.

Best to buy the marriage certs of both George and Elizabeth - hopefully this will give you a location. (Remember to order electronic printouts as they contain more info) Then come back to the chat room and see if someone can look up RUTTER births in those time frames and locations for you.

While you are waiting you can then trawl through the online cemeteries to see if you can find them or their parents. And check the national archives to see if you can find wills for any of them.

George and Margaret were born and married in England, their children were also born there. I have downloaded the forms to send for an electronic printout of Elizabeth's marriage will let you know how it goes.   Ivy

Just a quick note George Miller Rutter in Western Australia is correct D.O.B but can;t find any other records apart from WW11 army records!!!!!!!!!! So at least it seems as if the family settled in Temuka. Thanks for all your help.   Ivy from a very cold UK

Now you know he thinks he was born at Temuka, you might join the mailing list for New Zealand and ask for birth lookups for Rutter from 1920 onwards in the Temuka area.

Then once you get the daughter marriage certificate info this might give you her family home - as daughters usually married where the family lived. You could then ask for a look up of the burial info for the area, if you haven't found her yet in the various on-line indexes...
