Hi,

Looking again at the 1900 census I'm not sure the the DOB for Inez is 1891 or 1897 :-\

I'm wondering if John has been enumerated twice on the 1910 census :-\ (I have seen this before when someone is shown at home and also visiting relatives) or if only the first one is the correct John MCCONNOCHIE :-\

Hello I don't know if this helps or if it will be correct.

My memory tells me that McConnochie was an engineer to Lord Bute and the Bute Estate (Dumfries family?)

There is a Grade 2* listed building now known as Burges House but formerly Park House at around No. 20 Park Place, Cardiff.  The building was designed by architect William Burgess for Lord Bute for McConnochie to live in but on seeing the house during construction Lord Bute thought that the staircase was far too grand and had it reversed so that when you enter the building you now face the back of the stairs.

Burges is famous for his 'folly' architecture, Castle Coch outside Cardiff and Cardiff Castle itself shows his unique interest in flora and fauna in decoration.
Jimmy Page(guitarist for Led Zeppelin) owms and lives in a Burges house in Kensington.

I hope this is helpful and not just my vivid imagination!  If it's the right connection Google Burgess!
