1841/51/61 Dorset Lookup, Please

Hello all  .

I am in search of my g great grandfather in the censuses, who is proving to be a difficult case.

His name was John Tollerfield. There are many variations on the surname, including Tollafield, Tollifield, Tollofield, Tolleyfield.

All that I know about his early life was that he was the son of a man named John, and that he was a tailor before joining the Royal Artillery. It is possible that he was born and lived in the Moreton district, and he possibly had a mother called Betty and a sister called Mary.

If anyone could help me with anything on this, I would be most grateful .

do you have any dates to go with the names ??

I looked on the Dorset OPC site: http://www.dorset-opc.com
and entered "tollerfield tollafield tollifield tollofield" in the search field with "Find ANY word" and got 10 hits.

the only John Tollerfield was in the 1881 census for Wareham:
New Street;    ;    John;    TOLLERFIELD;    Father in Law;    M;    W;    65;    General Labourer;     Wareham;   

There is no OPC for Moreton Parish yet, but keep an eye on the OPC site, as they are expanding all the time.

My g great grandfather was born about 1824, however he seemed to like to put 1828 as his birthdate more than often in other documents that I have of him.
