Hi, I am interested in the Steele/Steel family as I am from the Catherine Gullan line.  I am also looking for information on Cleghorns from the Berwickshire area.  I noticed someone on here said something about owning a book on the Clazy/Clazie/Clazey family, I would be interested in seeing that if possible.

Perhaps someone could leave contact details so as I could get in touch.

Many thanks for your time.

This is probably irrelevant, but I have Steel as a middle name amongst my Monro ancestors, who hail from the Duns/Edrom/Hutton area. There are at least three who bear the name; Agnes Steel Monro (born 1849), her brother Peter Steel Monro (born 1853) and his son, also Peter Steel Monro (born in 1884).

I'm guessing that, somewhere back in the depths of the 18th Century, a Steel/Steele, perhaps one of yours, married into the Monro or Darling family (also from the area), thus passing the name on to occationally pop up in later generations :)
I am interested in finding out more about these families:

Branthwayt(e): Thrapston, Northamptonshire
Branwhite: Suffolk and Essex
Flude: London
Godfrey: Hertfordshire and Romford, Essex
Gregory: Derbyshire and Shoreditch, London
Lowen: Epping in Essex
Matty: Tewkesbury  in Glucestershire and Essex
Mills; Hackney, London
Monro: Berwickshire, Hertfordshire, London
Oliver: from Essex
Sadler: Shoreditch and Hackney
Shorten: Belchamp Walter, Essex
Tickell: recorded in Shoreditch

Regarding the line of Thomas Steel and Janet Denholm

Thomas according to the 1851 and 1861 censuses was born abt 1793/1794 in England. As his father was William (mother unknown) the most likely birth for him would be the Thomas Steel born 3 Sep 1792 in Norham, Northumberland, England.

There is nothing to link him to the Thomas Steel born in 1786 in Coldingham

Hello,
One of your posts mentioned the Clezy family.  I am definitely interested in this.  I have some Steeles in my tree... and confusion with a James Steele who married Margaret Pae but also married Elizabeth Clezie.  Perhaps we can help each other sort that out?
Clezie (Clazie, Clezy, Clazy, Clazey, Claise, etc.), Lockhart, Heiser, Schwab, Tomon, Zarnowski, Megert, Iseli
