Hi Gazania,

George William Wareham is/was my 2nd great grandfather. My grandfather used to tell me that George came out to NZ in 1879 with his brother, and then returned to England to marry Jessie at Wandsworth on 6 July 1882, then again returning to NZ in 1882 where they settled in Taranaki.

I believe this is the reason that you can't find GWW in the census of 1881 as he was in NZ or returning to England.

Hi, it's great to make contact with another Wareham relative.  Thank you for that piece of information about GWW returning from New Zealand to marry Jessie.  I have recently done a lot of research to find that Jessie and her brother,  Edward Wareham HARRY, married their second cousins.  Do you want to some more information?  Gazania.
