bearder family worksop nottinghamshire
« on: Friday 02 November 07 14:37 GMT (UK) »
Hoping someone has more info on the bearder family of nottinghamshire, recent past worksop but maybe mansfield or sheffild if you go back.
Thomas Bearder b  1903 died 1966 married lucy mary riley father was
tom bearder b1874 died 1928 married mary ann (polly) ellis father was
frank bearder who married harriet simpson who died. He then married harriets sister ann frecknall (nee simpson)
I think franks dad was henry bearder who married elizabeth shaw in sheffield. she wasnt from sheffield so im wondering whether he did and after that i cant seem to find anything at all to connect him
would be great if i could fill in the gaps.
Diane.

Sarah wife 56 E markham Notts
Sarah daughter 20? U Clumber park Notts

Elizabeth Clark daughter M 29 Ranby Notts

George Bearder Grandson 5 Scholar Worksop Notts

Maybe Elizabeth Clark was married to Mr Bearder before she married mr Clark???

I haven't found a marriage

There is a death in 1839 Sheffield of henry bearder
and also a death of henry Bearder Sept qtr 1843 Worksop
15 412

Do you have Frank's birth or marriage cert???

I haven't found frank in 1861, but george was in Worksop working as a servant and living next door to a Shaw family

Thats the right family. Ive had a look through and frank bearder (transcribed bearden)married harriet simpson at worksop priory, fathers given as henry bearder and thomas simpson. it was witnessed by william frecknall and emma simpson. willaim Frecknall is the husband of ann franks 2nd wife! They are both listed as living on newgate street. This was on the 30 jan 1865. Just out of interest both harriet and the witness emma marked with a x.
The date in 1843 is the right henry. elizabeth would have been pregnant with ther 2nd child when he died and must have married a clark though i cant confirm that.
Frank married ann frecknall in 1897 ond in worksop. Ive been told that this at the time was not legal, does anyone know if it was illegal to marry your dead wifes sister?
Harriet bearder nee simpson died 1892 ond at the age of 46.
In 1841 census i have found 2 henry bearders both dobs 1821 both born in nottinghamshire and both married to ann. One is living on middle street in newark with ann 20, john bearder 15, joseph bearder 15 sarah bearder 55
The other is listed as being in mansfield again with a anne 20, elizth mellas 65 and samuel mellas 70.
Could this be the same henry bearder listed twice?
also to add to the confusion the beardr name is often mis spelt!
Any help would be much appreciated, Bearder is my mothrs maiden name so is a significant name in our family tree

it's quite possible for henry to have been entered twice, but I think these two henry's are different people

henry in mansfield with Ann  (and Samuel and Elizabeth mellors) is a tailor -and he can be followed through the census still with wife Ann -he was b. Chesterfield and Ann b mansfield -so looks like that one can be discounted

the other henry (in Nottm St marys is a porter)-the Ann with him could be his wife or sister?
This henry could be the Henry you seek, as the Sheffield marriage didn't take place until Jun qtr 1841, so they could have just missed the census.

frank's birth cert would confirm who his parents were

hi just thought i would send you a message as my mums name is frecknall at birth, and i noticed you mention a william frecknall in your posts. Have only just started researching into the family tree but have found that my grandad Harry Frecknall's ancestors are originally from worksop/duckmanton area. i have 3 william frecknalls in my tree, one is from scarcliffe, one born in worksop and one in middlesex
