Hiya folks

George was born in Liverpool in 1900 to Amelia Critchley and George Williamson, cant find any trace of these two marrying but they had 6 children between 1898 and 1920. last address before George was born is Dixon Terrace in Liverpool when Elizabeth was born (she is their first child). Will post again if i get any more info.

Thanks Sharon xx

Hello Again Sharon,

If you check out Home Children Canada website I think you will pleased to find that they will help

you  find George. Please read through the whole site as it makes for very interesting reading

I found the following information on Rootsweb

Addresses of British Home Children ReelC-4691

George Williamson-11-Manchester-Salford Union Moses Thompson-HopeTp. Zion PO reputed left

here 22/11/15

Could he have been a inmate at Salford Union Work House. I believe many of the Home Children

came from workhouses.

Found this information on Library and Archives Canada

Home Children(1869-1930) Boards of Guardians Item Display

Name:  Williamson

Given Name:  George

Taken Into Care By:  Salford

Sending Agency:  Rev. Wallace

Year of Arrival:  1911

Notes:  On Active Service

Source:  Library and Archives Canada

Reference:  RG 76 C 4 a, British Children Emigrated to Canada by Authority of Board of Guardians

Page:  388

Microfilm:  T-537

Type of Record:  Boards of Guardians

When George came to Canada it's  indicated on the Home Children site  Library and Archives Canada

that he was with Mr. Wallace's party that went to Bellevue, Ontario.

There was a James S. Marchmount Distributing Home at Bellevue, Ontario which I believe is where

he went. I have not had time to check out this information  but I will do so.

I found another  website you can check out again very interesting and informative on Home Children

Home Canada: Canada's  Little Immigrants some of the stories are so sad  one just wants to cry.

Hang in there you will find George its just going to take some time.

Take care ,

Lilybell

Thanks Lilybell and everyone for your interest.

I have sent for George 's Birth Cert. so i will keep you informed if anything else comes to light from it. I dont think Salford workhouse would be the place for my George especially when we have a Brownlow Hill workhouse in Liverpool  so iam putting this to bed till i find something more definite, Thanks again for your efforts and advise i will post any developments whether or not he ended up in Canada.

Thanks
Sharon xxx
