Hi Dylan

How old would your William Clegg be on the 1851 census?
Did he have any children that would be with him still in the 1851 census?

Where was your William born?

Hello
William was  born around 1822 but I am    unsure  as to where he was born, I have his second marriage certificate when he married  Hannah Hobson which gives his   father as John Clegg.
many thanks

Hello Wendy
on Williams   1858   marriage certificate John is given   as a Collier. I also have my   husbands    grandfathers birth  certificate  who  was born in 1864       in which    William is   given as Coal   miner
Many thanks

Hello Dylan
On 1851 there is a William Clegg b 1820 at Selston Yorkshire. He was listed as a Pauper Westgate Union Workhouse Rotherham, no family member with him.

Also there is a Hannah Clegg bc 1826 at Rotherham listed as House Servant with the Jubb?? Family at Herringthorpe Whiston (nr Rotherham)

Don't know whether they are yours though.

Good Luck

Thank you Pam
Not sure about these two but will keep them in mind , I think I will need to find Williams  birth,
I live down south and know little of the area.
Cheers
