Hi all
That all looks fascinating.
I saw your question about putting the photo up. I put my first one up last week and there was a definite battle between me and the computer going on! I managed it eventually, but I've played tonight and decided I'd do it differently!
I use elements but I imagine all these imaging programs have similar buttons.
My file size was too big too, Also, if you saw the Cockermouth entry of Gillian'safter the first attempt, the physical size of the picture went from here to Australia!
Now I've decided it's :-
Open the image in organiser
->Right click on image and select "Go to full edit"(Opens image in edit).
->File & select "Save for web" (New window opens).
->On right hand side, alter quality, and look at new file size and image quality.
->At top, alter aspect to sensible dimensions. Look at the pixel, and check the size in pixels is permitted.(I was doing a profile image, but you might just have to reduce the quality and get the file size down slightly and post as usual).
At any stage, if nothing happens, click apply or similar depending on your program.
I actually then saved it on my desk top to make it easier to find when I was posting it, and it makes it easier if you've not done it before or if your grey matter is being stretched like mine!)
That worked for a novice and it may not be technically the best, but it's something!
However if you'd like loads of technical advice, look on the Advice boards. There is almost an encyclopedia on the subject, from many wise and experienced people!
By the way, I've done this from memory, and not attempted screenshots, but I will go through it again and double check the posting - though I'm sure someone will tell me what's wrong and give many better ways of doing it!
I actually cobbled together the info on the boards with my software, then this week changed my mind to this!
Good luck!
