Dear RootsChatters,
I have a photocopy, a single page, of a grant of administration (with will and codicil annexed) made in 1879 at Lewes, Sussex. (Administration rather than probate was granted because the person to whom it was given was not named as executor in the will and codicil.)
My problem is that the extreme left edge of the photocopy is truncated and some words are missing.
The original document was a pre-printed standard form with space to fill in details; only a few of the pre-printed words seem to be missing, so I'm hoping a helpful RootsChatter can supply them.
At the foot of the page is printed the following (with handwriting indicated in italics).
...ts under £ 100. No Leaseholds.
Now I guess what's missing is Personal Effec... or something similar. But my real question is what's printed just above this line?
In my copy it reads as follows.
...ies. <And then are two handwritten names and addresses bracketed together.>
The letter printed before the i seems to be t, but it's not clear. Is the missing word "Sureties" and, if not, what is it? And is it preceded by any other pre-printed words?
Hope somebody out there is familiar with this type of form.
Thanks in advance,
Stovepipe
