Hi Langtry

I am having problems finding out where they were for the period immediately after they married. They were involved in both the Crimea and were then sent out as reinforcements during the Indian Mutiny. So he probably will be on the medal rolls for both wars.

Do you know where her family lived? I do not believe wives would have travelled to either the Crimea or to India, so she may have gone back to her family while he was away.

I will keep looking.

Ken

I don't know if this helps but I too am looking for a soldier of the 77th Reg of Foot.  In 1851 mine was in Carmarthen, have you tried there ?
Good luck

The main body of the 77th Regiment were in Newport (Mons) for the 1851 census. The men in Carmarthan would have been a company strength detachment.

Langtry...I cannot find anything on a John Boyland. Another detachment were in Pembroke. This included a John Boyling, aged 24, born Castleblassy(?), Monaghan. He is married but his wife is not with him.

Private Boyling also appears in the Crimea medal rolls.
