Oh ok, but as I know the names of the people that I am looking for there shouldn't be a problem as long as the records are complete, but are the records likely to be complete at the library if they aren't complete on Free B.M.D. or ancestry? I guess the only way to find out is to go look see.

Thanks for your advice anyhow.  :)

Maybe I can help here. That index reference brings up 3 names in Brackley RD:

 Patience Bayliss

 Temperance Saving

 George Varney

Per the IGI, Patience Bayliss married Thomas Davis on 17 October 1839  at Finmere, Oxford.

Also per the IGI, and also at Finmere, Temperance Saving married George Varney on 5 December 1839.

Sorry Tati I didn't make it clear that I had their names in my initial post, but Shaunj's done the job for me as Patience Bayliss was the missing name.

Thanks Shaun and everyone for the help.

Just seen this earlier thread Baz http://www.rootschat.com/links/0252/
-  where Newf also reported that Patience Bayliss had married Thomas Davis in Finmere  in 4Q1839.  Thomas Davis doesn't seem to appear in the GRO index for that quarter - it's possible his name was missed in the original transcription or in the subsequent typing-up. Anyway if I were you I'd send off for the certificate for Patience Bayliss' marriage.

...  I find that there are only 3 individuals listed ...

I came across one of these a while ago. In the end it turned out that one of the indexes was badly faded and the page number was almost unreadable for that entry. In this case the fourth one was transcribed as ... 1d 2*3 instead of ... 1d 213 like all the others.

Hope you are lucky and hit the right one.

Hi
In the complete BMD Marriages there is a Thomas DAVIS Vol 15 Page 403 Reg Dist Brackley.
It looks like the surname DAVIS is on one of the pages that haven't been transcribed yet as a search for anyone with that surname for Dec Qtr 1839 finds none at all.
