Lookup Request Herts Transportee - FREEMAN

Hi

Would like to see if someone could look up some information  on an ancestor of mine he was transported as a convict from hertfordshire in 1825 arrived in australia 18/9/1826  his name was william freeman born in hemel hempstead 1804 died 1882 in grafton nsw australia the information I need is on what crime he commited I know he commited a felony about the 25/5/1825 but not much other information.

Hi,

There is no William FREEMAN  on my version of the Hertfordshire Transportees.     If by chance he committed his crime in another county, it is possible he would be included in their  list.

I have got his goal record from the bedford goal archives which was good as it had a good description of what he looked like  to find out where to find a more info on the crime he actually committed  :) freeman5522

Hi There freeman,
Don't know if you have considered putting your inquiries on he Australian board or whether you have all you want from Australia already.

If you do not already know this, a full copy of his record can usually be got including his crime and behaviour during sentence.

I can see a William Freeman arrivng as a convict to Van Diemen's land in about the right time frame .
