Researching our Armstrong family from Belfast , Father in laws name was Thomas Andrew Armstrong born 31/01/1925, he had a brother called Matthew Armstrong who died in Dunkirk, they also had 3 sisters Christine,Rachel and Nellie. Their father was called Matthew aswell and their mother was called Christine (nee Matthews) If anyone can offer any information it would be great as this is all the information we have.

Hi Sue,

What denomination are your Armstrong family?

Gertrude, Maggie, Matthew and Minnie Armstrong, 21, Hopeton Street  Belfast signed the 1912 Ulster Covenant. There were two other Matthew Armstrongs in Belfast who signed. One lived at 53, Linsy St. and the other at 27, Little Charlotte Street.

Had a look at www.cwgc.org but can't see a Matthew Armstrong listed that died at Dunkirk.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Still no further forward with my search for the Armstrong, this search is proving to be very difficult. I have not been able to get any other information on this branch of the family apart Thomas married a lady called Helen Barton in Glasgow but I dont know what year.

I have been given a copy of Thomas Armstrong's birth Certificate, the family was living at 38 Vernon Street, and his mothers name had a funny spelling Christena( formerly Matthew)

Hi Sue
The web site 'Scotlands people' has the marriage details of Thomas and Helen.
Good luck
