Hi does anyone know how the Romany inn of Bampton got its name?
Does it have anything to do with local Romanies, or is it a modern name?
thanks

from what i can see on the 1886 map it was the Elephant and Castle, Bridge street. which closed 2002 .
It's possible that the Romany Inn and The Horseshoe, also on Bridge have replaced The E and C.
