i am looking for a Robert thomas gibbons, b. 1887 kirkdale, liverpool, UK. father was thomas gibbons, b. 1853 Cheshire, UK.  mother b. 1852 flintshire, n. wales.

Roberts father thomas, was a saddler and Robert was, according to the 1901 census apprenticed to his father.

the last mention i have for Robert is the 1901 census liverpool.  i think he may have emigrated to either USA or Canada.  presumably, he would have completed his apprenticeship in 1908 and after that may well have emigrated.  i have tried unsuccessfully checking passenger records from time to time when there have been free periods. there are no marriage or death records for Robert in the u.k.

i should be grateful if you could have a look for me.  thank you purlin

you can also check U.S. census records (1910, 1920, 1930) on Ancestry to narrow down any possiblities although you do need a subscription to view the actual records.

thank you all for your help with this one.  the r.t that you have listed looks a very strong possibility sue.  i shall pursue it and see where it leads.  the year 1913,  port of departure liverpool etc. are certainly in line with the information i have.  the only negative is the occupation, farmer.  as i mentioned Robert was apprenticed to his father who was a saddler.  but i suppose farms, horses, horses saddler's etc.
