adoption

Is it possible to find adoption records for a child born 1909?

The child was born in Docking Workhouse 1909. The Mother discharged herself soon after the birth. She was recorded to be living in New Hunstanton. No Father was given on the Birth Certificate.

There was no formal adoption before 1927 and while legal arrangements were made for the rich before then it is unlikely that anyone born in the Workhouse would have such an arrangement.

I would suggest that you need to look at the workhouse records and the place to start looking for these is the Norfolk Record Office
